Hoopers Inlet Star Trail | Dilanka Wijesekara
Location: Hoopers Inlet , Dunedin | Date: 14/08/2021
As the earth rotates, the stars slowly turn circles in the sky with the south celestial pole; the present southern polestar, Polaris Australis, the south star, begins to be found at the centre of those concentric circles. It is the one star that doesn’t change position, so it has always been used for night time navigation. Southern Polaris is ten times fainter than its Northern counterpart.
